New Mexico Oversize/Overweight permits Validity: Oversize permits issued in New Mexico remain **** for a total of Five consecutive days. Drivers are required to secure the permit before entering the state.
New Mexico Traveling Time with Oversize Load: Movement is generally allowed from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset, Monday through Saturday. Continuous travel is permitted if the load does not exceed 10 feet in width, 14 feet 6 inches in height, 120 feet in length, or 140,000 pounds in weight
New Mexico Oversize Load Restricted Travel: Transport is not allowed between 70 AM and 90 AM, and again from 40 PM to 60 PM, especially within city limits of Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Española. In Santa Fe, movement is also restricted between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, excluding SR599. Curfew hours do not apply to I-25 through Santa Fe but are enforced on Interstates within Albuquerque. No movement is allowed during poor weather conditions that reduce visibility below 1,000 feet or when wind speeds reach 25 mph or more. Travel is prohibited on major holidays and may also be restricted beginning at noon on the preceding day.
New Mexico Holiday Restriction: Unless specifically stated otherwise on the oversize permit, New Mexico prohibits the movement of oversize or overweight loads on major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Restrictions may begin at noon on the day prior to the holiday.
