Volume Analysis: Meaning, Methods and Trading Uses
Volume Analysis is the study of how much of a financial asset is traded during a specific period. Traders read volume alongside price to understand how much market activity accompanies a rise, fall, breakout, or pause. On most stock charts, volume appears as vertical bars below the price chart. Each bar shows the quantity traded during the selected candle or interval.
Price shows the current value of an asset, while volume helps traders understand how actively it is being traded. Neither provides a complete picture on its own. A price rise with higher volume may show greater participation, but it does not guarantee that the rise will continue. The meaning depends on the asset, timeframe, market conditions, and price level.
