As the name suggests, thoracolumbar fractures are those that occur in the middle (thoracic) or lower back (lumbar) region of the spine. In most cases, T-11 to L-1 is the level that gets affected the most. This is the transitional area between the immobile thoracic spine and the flexible lumbar spine.
