Description

Jagex partnered with the creator of popular Old School RuneScape mod RuneLite HD to create the HD version accessible to all players. Steamforged's upcoming board game will give RuneScape's passionate fanbase another possibility to get into this world Gielinor and develop their own adventures.

Runescape developer Jagex's publishing wing has picked up an exciting independent game under their Jagex Partners label, making Melvor Idle an indie now. The idler game, which is similar to games like Clicker Heroes or Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, made its debut on Steam in the year before and sports its influences from Jagex's most popular game Runescape extremely proudly.

Melvor Idle is a detailed multi-track idle game that will attempt to recreate "the fundamental elements that comprise the RuneScape franchise in a way so that they can be played in a casual manner," says the publisher. It's a pretty loaded with features idle game with plenty of things to craft and progress, as well in a focus on no luxury mechanics that require a restart.

Jagex evidently became aware of this project as early as 2020. Many of its staff liked it before the first Steam launch in the month of October the same year. As you'd imagine, the developer is pretty pleased to be working with the creators of one of their most loved games. "Being in a position to collaborate in conjunction with Jagex directly on this has been an amazing dream come true," said Brendan Malcolm the sole developer of Melvor Idle Studio Games by Malcs.

Malcolm posted a lengthy Q&A for the game's Reddit community, making clear that he will maintain total creative control in the future along with stating that the game's single-purchase system of monetization won't be altered. Jagex stated that they has "no desire" to alter anything regarding Melvor Idle. The agreement on publishing will be a combination of Jagex as the sole provider of localisation, marketing, technical support, and QA of Melvor Idle.
