In a new statement, EA Sports told IGN:
We are not averse to make comments on rumors or speculation. However, we're committed to improve Franchise as a part of our ongoing Madden NFL 22 Live service and beyond. This includes two coming Franchise updates that will be available within Madden NFL 22. We'll give more information regarding the updates in the coming year.
This announcement comes in response to an article from Sports Gamers Online that EA had decided to drop additional franchise mode updates for Madden 22. It partly cited IGN's own interview with Madden 22 executive producer Seann Graddy. She said the current content roadmap for Madden 22 is "slightly more modest than previous years past" because the team is focussing on a couple of key areas rather than trying to introduce content on the scale of Superstar KO, a well-received arcade mode that was introduced during Madden 20.
"I believe that the roadmap is] likely to be a little less ambitious than previous years since we're focusing on a few core aspects in Madden 22 and also getting into Madden 23 in a big way," Graddy said at the time. "So I'm going to stick with what we've always said in the past couple of years"We're a live-streaming service and we'll be continuing to make improvements to the game, but there's no way we'll be talking about a brand new mode."
The report received attention partly due to franchise mode, which is a topic of contention with certain Madden players. In reality, the promised roadmap was initially a response to the #fixmaddenfranchise campaign , which was popular on Twitter in mid-2020, which was initiated following reports that EA was not planning any improvements to franchise mode.
