Gustave Cariot: Thoughts Behind His Pointillist Paintings
Gustave Cariot was a widely recognized French painter of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Cariot, who never fully accepted the title of Impressionism, is most famous for his Pointillist paintings. He was born in Paris in 1872. His paintings frequently addressed themes and subjects essential to other Impressionist artists, like Van Gogh’s cypress trees and Claude Monet’s haystacks, and incorporated bright greens and yellows in his paintings.
