RuneScape was one of the trailblazers: a game which is solely focused on engaging, that doesn't always have to coincide with enjoyment. This isn't to say that these two games are mutually exclusive, it just means that there are options to keep playing even when you're not having amusement.

RuneScape also happens to be one of the most effective at what it does. I've been enjoying the fan-made documentaries, RuneScape Historical Timeline 1998 to 2020, which is about the evolution (it is a huge part of all aspects in my daily life) and the game's developers were stunned at the players' ability to max out stats in months, instead of years.

The top accounts were available for more than 10 hours per day, every day. Then, when 2021 comes around I can see why. If you love the fantasy genre then the atmospheric soundtrack induces you to sleep. Everything is so simple that your brain will fill in the blanks. I think this is the reason that we were all captivated as children it's the perfect spot for having your own fun.

But as an adult, it's like having an extra job. Not in a bad way I'm sure. But still, I'll be watching TV watching the television with the laptop that I've used to complete eight hours of my actual job, grinding away at my magic level because I've decided my character is going to be a fantastic wizard. Then the next day, perhaps I'll want to fulfill my childhood goal of getting an entire set of black armor, so now I'm a knight, imagine.
